Want to be more confident? Do you want to achieve more in your career, business, and life, but you feel like you need more confidence to do it? In this article, I’m going to share one of the best confidence tips you’ll ever receive. And the best thing is, it lasts!
When we want to do something that is out of our comfort zone, we silently tell ourselves, "You can do this! Just be confident!" Because of that, I've come to believe that extraordinary self-confidence is important.
But not all self-confidence are the same. Why? Because there is confidence that depends on your successes and the things you have. But when those things are gone, so is your confidence.
On the other hand, there’s a type of confidence that’s based on truth. It’s based on who you really are - not on what you have or what you’ve achieved. Here are the 2 types of confidence.
Types of Self Confidence
There are 2 types of self-confidence:
Self-confidence as the world defines it; and
Whatever you choose to develop will affect your life in the long-term.
What Do You Mean By Self-confidence?
Self-confidence is often mixed up with self-worth. One popular definition of self-confidence is "believing in one's self." It can help you land on your dream job and perform great. Plus, it can help you succeed in business.
Another popular definition is an individual's expectation of performance and self-evaluation of activities and prior performance.
Psychology online defines self-confidence as an individual's trust in their own abilities, capacities, and judgment. It is the belief that a person can face day-to-day challenges if they are confident.
For me, self-confidence is an attitude. It is an attitude about your skills and abilities. It means you accept and trust everything about you. Even things that you cannot control.
Having self-confidence means that you know yourself well. You know your strengths and weaknesses, yet you always have a positive view of yourself.
If that is self-confidence, how is it different from extraordinary self-confidence?
What is Extraordinary Confidence?
You won’t learn about extraordinary self-confidence in the dictionary and there is nobody in the world who’s teaching this concept. How do I know? It’s because I had to learn what extraordinary confidence is, the hard way.
Extraordinary Confidence is a person’s trust in God’s truth about himself or herself. It's accepting and believing your abilities, capacities, and self-worth based on God’s truth.
Extraordinary Confidence comes from a heart that is at peace - a heart that is hopeful in spite of uncertain situations. Having this kind of confidence puts you in a state of certainty because it’s based on God.
It’s independent of your situation. It’s not about being in the mountains. And you won’t lose it when you’re down and in the valleys. The reason is because this kind of confidence is anchored on God.
The Benefits of Extraordinary Self-Confidence
Strengthens The Impact and Influence of Your Leadership
We’re all leaders. Whether you have a leadership title or not, you’re still a leader in my book. Why? Because the moment you speak and interact with someone, you are either leading them positively or negatively. It may happen unconsciously, but that’s the truth.
Having extraordinary self-confidence will boost your impact and influence. Both as a leader and as an individual. When you radiate extraordinary self-confidence, you’ll be able to attract, influence, and inspire people around you.
When your confidence comes from a good heart, things will no longer be about you. It’s not about your wisdom, knowledge, or experience. Not even your title. It’s all coming from the right source - the wisdom of God - and enabled by The Holy Spirit.
Extraordinary Confidence Will Improve Your Relationships
Once you develop extraordinary self-confidence, you will improve your relationship with your family, colleagues, churchmates, and friends. The reason is because you’re becoming more of a blessing to people around you. Because of that, they are more appreciative and grateful of your company - of your friendship.
Not a lot of people show this kind of confidence. Most have false confidence that affects their relationships in a negative way. Pride and accomplishments go to their head that’s why they put themselves on a pedestal.
On the other hand, there are those who lack self-confidence that become needy. They are always looking for validation from other people. They become people pleasers because they believe that others won’t like them for who they are.
Having extraordinary confidence will make you stand out and be more attractive. You’ll start getting attention from people who want to work with you, believe in you, and even bless you. So it’s important that you start building your extraordinary confidence.
It Helps You Inspire A Legacy
How do you want to be remembered? Do you want people to remember you as a person who buys a lot of things? Someone who’s scared of trying new things and getting out of their comfort zone?
Or do you want to be someone who inspired confidence in other people? Someone who makes others believe in how God sees them? And someone who radiates genuine confidence that is anchored on God?
You will have to choose that for yourself. When you choose to develop confidence that’s based on your worldly accomplishments, it’s going to fade. But when you know that your worth is based on God, it stays with you even after you’re gone.
Why Is Self-confidence Neglected?
Building self-confidence, especially extraordinary confidence, is often neglected because people are raised differently. Most think that developing self-confidence is less important compared to succeeding in life. In reality, one of the best confidence tips you’ll ever receive is to take responsibility for building your extraordinary confidence.
Another reason is the lack of time. Most people are caught up in working hard that they neglect working on themselves. They forget to work on their confidence. In reality, people with genuine confidence become more successful than those who don’t. They know their worth and the value they bring that’s why others see it, too.
How To Develop Extraordinary Self Confidence
Here’s the good news: it’s possible to develop extraordinary self-confidence. You don’t have to spend years of trial and error to get it. All you need is to learn the truths about confidence. Not just facts that are based in science, but truths that are holistic - spiritual, emotional, physical, and emotional.
It is not easy because it will force you to make some sacrifices and make tough decisions: in your lifestyle and how you view yourself. But once you have it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start earlier.
Here’s what you need:
1. A mentor who’s been to where you are now so that he or she can empathize with what you’re going through. Also, he or she needs to have gone to where you want to go - confidence-wise. Otherwise, all you'll learn are nothing but theories.
2. A proven roadmap or system that you can follow to understand what confidence is and who you are. And how you can develop extraordinary confidence, step-by-step.
3. Trust the process. You’re not going to have confidence overnight. There’s no “hack” or magic bullets that will make you confident in an instant. Instead, you need to go through a guided journey. That’s how you’ll develop confidence.
